Zdeno Chara vs Kyrie Irving

Zdeno Chara takes a puck right to his face last night in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup. Look at the video-

Did whatever he could to get back on the bench next to his team mates.

From CBS Boston-

Chara did not return to the ice for the remainder of the second period, but he did return to the bench in the third period, wearing a full face shield. He did not, however, take any shifts in the third period.

Defenseman Brandon Carlo said that Chara could β€œbarely talk” while on the bench.

β€œJust shows his great leadership. He’s there to support the guys,” Carlo said. β€œObviously his mouth has some blood and I don’t know what’s going on there. But he can barely talk and he’s out there supporting us, so just his leadership is on a whole other level, especially during this final round. He’s always there for us, he’s been great communicating, and just wants to be there as a support valve.”

What did Kyrie Irving do in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals against Cleveland? Had elective surgery to fix a deviated septum.

From Sports Illustrated- “Celtics superstar Kyrie Irving was noticeably missing from the sidelines in Boston’s loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals on Sunday. But, as it turns out, he had a good reason.Β

Team president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said Monday that Irving was recovering from deviated septum surgery – a nasal procedure.

Kyrie had a deviated septum, had some surgery on that, and so I don’t think he wanted to be seen,” Ainge told ESPN. “He’s a really good-looking guy. He can’t ruin his movie career.
